  1. I’m partial to textbooks, myself.

  2. old book smell is the most intoxicating and wonderful smell in the world. I was super excited to learn that there is an old book smell perfume. http://ebookfriendly.com/book-smell-perfumes-candles/

  3. Librarian here!

    That smell? Its actually the books burning! Just very slowly. Most books from the 20th century were made with acidic paper because it’s cheap. But that acid is slowly burning the paper. That’s why a book from 1950 is yellow and brittle, but a book from 1850, (which was made pre-acidic paper) is in far better condition. Though it might not smell as nice.

    While not universal, far more books are being printing on non-acidic paper than a few decades ago.

    I paid like, $40k for that knowledge, so I’m sharing it with anyone that’ll read it. ^_^;

    1. Okay. Okay.

      OKAY.

      That is the coolest thing I’ve learned today.
