  1. I can somewhat relate having a prior career in culinary arts. Customers are just a bloody nuisance across the board. It’s astounding the number of times in one night you can get people asking for a rare steak to sound cool, but they’ll then send it back to the kitchen over and over for being “too rare” until the steak is well-done. I could list a thousand more examples, but I won’t for the sake of time and my blood pressure.

    1. I do not doubt it. I can count on one hand the number of times I have sent food back, and with one exception it was because it wasn’t the correct order (for the record: Med rare for me. I like bloody steak, but it’s gotta be warm all the way through!).

  2. Nobody who worked retail misses it.
Nobody working retail will miss it.

    1. I miss aspects of it, but it’s largely tied to the people I worked with, and the particular type of retail I worked. Books is definitely still retail, but let’s just say that I doubt I would have missed much if I had worked in a department/box store.

  3. This is very much like my job, but the questions involve ordinances and building permits instead.

    1. And zoning. Dear God sooo many questions about zoning.
