  1. You have to be kin to my wife. A YEAR after she left employment at a store she was STILL helping its customers to find things.

  2. I’ve *never* worked in a bookstore, yet I also feel this compulsion, especially when manga have the back covers facing out.

  3. Hence why I don’t visit places I used to work for

    1. B-but…the bookstore!

  4. You can tell when someone has been working retail for a long time and it’s stuck. They have trouble resisting the urge to fix the facing.

…It’s why I try and minimize the amount of time I spend in other retail outlets.

    1. I would too, but it’s really hard for me to stay out of a bookstore. I know, ebooks, Amazon, etc, but browsing in a brick-and-mortar is just generally more fun for me.

  5. Never having worked in retail, ever, I still do this on occasion. Same with fixing the messes some women leave behind when going through the clothing racks.

I mean, I suppose it could be a man, but how many of those do you see clothes shopping?

  6. I drive my wife nuts with this, and I’ve been out of retail for *several* years (I work in IT for a local Health System now). I have been known to almost completely reface the plastic models at one of the craft stores in town just to have something to do while my wife shops, and because Nobody Knows how to Read Shelf Labels… Rrggh.
