  1. Hmmm. Magical reindeer girls, sound like the makings of an anime.

    1. Oh, holy crap, it DOES. @_@

  2. exactly

  3. OK, now I have to know why all Santa’s reindeer are female.

Why? Because science, biology, facts, etc.

    1. Yeh, it stems from the fact that with actual reindeer (like, the for real kind that wander around on the tundra), while both genders grow and shed antlers every year, the males shed them right after mating season in the spring/early summer. Females shed them later, and even though that’s usually in the later summer/fall, it is possible for them to hang on to them a little longer, thereby making it way more likely that a female reindeer would still have antlers in the winter.

Hell, I don’t know: maybe Santa’s reindeer just have antlers YEAR ROUND. They’re obviously not run-of-the-mill reindeer given the premise that they’re magical flying creatures.

I…have clearly thought about this too much.

Both genders of land bound raindeer have antlers, however males shed them in the fall while the females don’t shed them until after giving birth in the spring. So at christmas the only gender to have antlers is the females.
Though i don’t recal the song ever mentioning that the raindeer were male… So i guess people just presumed they must be male because of the names or the fact that they are able to haul santa and the toys around? lol

    1. You have a point, they could all be female, I don’t think any of the original stuff mention gender (Heck Donner’s name was originally Donder, but most people don’t know that, either). I still maintain, that regardless of gender, they’re just, you know magical creatures that have antlers all the time. Because: why not? XD
