AWA 2013 Pictures

I get a lot more time to take pictures when I’m sitting behind a table at conventions, and I always get to see some great ones. This year was no exception! Most of the costumes one sees at AWA are more current pop culture references than the type of garb one sees at Dragon (where the costumes can range from “Oh my glob! Did you see last week’s episode?!” to “Holy crap. I thought I was the only person on the planet that had ever even seen that movie…”).

Here are some of my favorites from the continuous parade by my table!

I’m sure most of you guys can guess who this one is. I know I’m excited about the new season…

How’s about some Disney ones as well (this segment is practically an obligation for me!) Oh man. I JUST started getting into this show, and it’s kind of brilliant. It took me a second to realize that the girl was Mabel from Gravity Falls and was even more thrilled to see she had Dipper with her. This show’s definitely worth a watch, if you guys haven’t already given it a shot.

Okay, this next costume was kind of a surprise, I’ve never seen anyone cosplay from Disney’s Treasure Planet

There were TONS of Cartoon Network costumes:

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!
Oh my glob, she gave out candy and had a spot on impression of Pops!

And there were, of course, a bunch of Fiona and Cake costumes…but only ONE dude dressed up as friggin’ Magic Man. This guy was amazing. And hilarious.

This next one is one of my personal favorites, I’ve been a huge fan of Sonic  the Hedgehog since I was a wee lass (Guilty Pleasure Admission Time: I still read the comics…)

And I gotta have at least one My Little Pony reference in here. No lie: one of the best Discord costumes I’ve seen. The eyebrows and those little yellow glasses completely make the costume!

Oh. Right! This was an anime convention….Okay, okay, there were a bajillion anime related costumes, but I have to confess, my tastes in animation tend to be more American. There’s a lot out there that I don’t recognize…Although, I’m usually pretty safe in guessing Final Fantasy if there is enough spiky hair and/or zippers, and I did shout out “Hetalia!” nearly every time I saw one of the Countries walk by the booth. So finally, we have Sofi from Howl’s Moving Castle. Proof positive that you are never too old to cosplay, you just gotta find the right costume.

Hope you enjoyed seeing a few of my favorites from the past weekend! Thanks again to everybody that stopped by to say hello, I had a lot of fun talking to you guys and getting to meet some of my fans! Can’t wait to do it all again ^_^

That’s all for now, my Creatures, and as always: Thanks for reading!
