I support Raf in this. I could tolerate Christmas Carols for a few more days, even until January 1. But THAT freakin’ song….!!!
The only “Christmas” song worse than McCartney’s horror is “Last Christmas”. The song is depressing, LAME, and EXPLOITATIVE (lets throw the word ‘Christmas’ in! Holiday sales!!! er, Spirit!)
And while I’m ranting, why is “My Favorite Things” from the Sound of Music on so many stores’ Christmas Muzak? It mentions packages and winters (that melt into spring). Is that enough to qualify in this day and age?
I never really understood why “My Favorite Things” is considered a Christmas song, so I can agree with you there (and on “Last Christmas.” It’s not one of my favorites.) I know “Wonderful Christmas Time” isn’t everybody’s favorite, but I still love it! My least favorite is actually “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” thanks to a stint working in a restaurant one Christmas season and having to hear it at least 10 times a shift because the place only had, like, one Christmas CD that year for some reason. It still sets my teeth on edge, even when I hear it in Home Alone.
I love Christmas carols (most anyway). ^_^ Fortunately my husband is fine with me playing them (almost) whenever — especially since I don’t think anyone else I know would do so. XD
