I did that with my house once. Locked the front door upon leaving, then pointed the car’s remote at it and pushed the button. I was briefly puzzled why the house didn’t chirp, until I had that same “This is why I don’t get up at 5:00 am” thought.
Ah. My variation has been to shift the keys in my hand as I leave the car, only to halt on the doormat with brain-lock on discovering I was about to start the house.
