  1. So make up your bed with sheets my dear,
Or the blanket possum ventures near.
She hides between your blankets snug,
And while you sleep she gives a hug.

Crumbs she’ll eat and warmth she’ll share,
But heed me, child, and beware!
For while she seems the best bedmate,
    She promises a gruesome fate!

One night while you lie sleeping sound,
She’ll bite your cuff and drag you down.
    Beneath your blankets piled high,
And deeper than your bed you’ll fly.

A world you’ll find of blankets old,
And twisted quilts that gather mold.
An endless maze of rotten bedding,
And deeper down is where you’re heading!

    Here the blanket possums dwell,
In blanket caverns deep as wells.
Hunger they for meats so sweet:
    Children who forget their sheets!

    1. This is beautiful and I shall treasure it always.

      1. Aww, shucks! *blush*

        1. That was really good. 🙂

        2. The last two panels, her face peering out from beneath the blankets, was just so perfect for a cautionary tale. It basically wrote itself. 🙂

  2. Is that Shel SIlverstein or Edward Gorey?

  3. I’ve never understood the whole, “make the bed” thing. It’s just gonna get messed up again the next night.

My solution: no blanket. No sheets. Done!

    1. …clearly, your house’s climate control is far better than mine, then.

  4. Marjory the trash heap, meet Wendy the blanket heap. She has everyone’s blankets.
