I read that you were eventually going to bring your daughter into the comic, but I must say, I’m surprised it happened so abruptly. I’m a little disappointed that you didn’t chronicle your pregnancy in the comic; I imagine that you could have milked that (no breastfeeding pun intended) for comedy material. I will say that Xena’s a pretty awesome name (and now I kinda want to see a comic with a warrior princess infant!). I look forward to seeing how she figures in your comic in the future, and I want to congratulate you on your no-doubt promising career as a Pokemon Master. 🙂
It was a tough decision whether or not to chronicle the pregnancy here, but ultimately it felt weird for me to time warp back to my pregnancy days, plus I felt announcing/showing her would be worthy of the 700th comic. I DO have some ideas knocking around for comics about all that (there was some funny stuff, believe me), but I wanted to put them all in one place, without having to have an over-arching storyline for this particular comic.
Lynn Johnston, creator of For Better or for Worse, published three short single-panel comic books about pregnancy through the terrible twos:
“David, We’re Pregnant!”; “Hi Mom. Hi Dad.”; and “Do they Ever Grow Up?”
If you can find them, they make for highly amusing reading.
(Fanboy in me would love to see the Surly Queen’s take on the subject)

Has your daughter been mentioned in the comic before? Because I had no idea you had children. Congradulations!
SurlyQueen
She has NOT. I’ve been waiting to post anything about her since I didn’t want the comics to run too parallel to her actual life. And thank you!

Heh, yas!
She is already QUITE fascinated by the game…

Did you change her name here for protective purposes? I would be very disappointed if you did not actually name your kid Xena
SurlyQueen
I did, Xena is her name for the purposes of the comic, since she doesn’t really get a choice about being in it (yet).
