I used to make four leaf clovers for my teammates on the tennis team. (I would peal a leaf off a normal clover and weave it onto another normal clover.) It always made them happy and they would tuck them into their socks and whatnot to give them luck. I always wondered if they noticed that the four leaf clovers all disappeared when I left the team.
It is a form or type of Autism, which, among many other things, means my brain is better than a Typical person’s at picking up patterns in things, usually subconsciously. I can often beat an entire room full of people at dice games whenever I play them, for instance. Those games just use statistical patterns. I can play Spot The Difference Between These Two Pictures insanely fast, and Where’s Waldo as well. This same trait lets me find a single bird sitting in a tree with a glance, or spot the one four-leaf in a patch of clover. Not all Autistics have these abilities- Autism is different in each person, but to learn more about what it is and what it’s like, click here: http://autisticadvocacy.org/about-autism/

If it makes him feel any better, those things don’t really work :/

It’s true, but for me, it’s always been about finding the unusual.

I do this all the time. One of the perks of having a brain hardwired for pattern recognition. (Asperger’s Syndrome)

I’m only really good at finding clovers…and random “shinnies” on the floor at work.
