  1. What kind of beatle!?

    1. Looks like a rhino beetle.

      1. Close, it’s one of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hercules_beetle

        1. That. Never. No. Just. No. What. No. Nonononononononononononono.

          No.

          P. S.: thanks for the nightmares. I never liked sleep, anyway…

        2. Seriously!? “The beetles may be kept as pets.” I thought you was just being, ya know… weird. That thing is HUGE!

Gotta agree with João, no way!

  2. I don’t think it would get along well with Harley

  3. I’m with Raf on this one. When a cockroach chases the mouse for food, this is NOT a good thing!

And Harley would never come down off the drapes! 🙁

  4. No that is not

This is generally how most of the new pets get vetoed in this house.

Which is a good thing. Otherwise we’d have an even bigger menagerie than the current Apocalypse of cats ( Two black norgies, a tuxedo, a garfield sized tabby and a siamese who thinks she’s a ferret ) and the wall o’ reptiles ( geckos and various snakes ).

SO far this season, the list of animals that have been vetoed have included:

    A Swedish Vallhund ( think corgi-ized wolf )
A spotted genet ( think ferretized cat … or … felinized ferret )
Too many many-limbed critters to list

  6. Apocalypse of cats!!! AWESOME!! I now have a new name for the many cats that live with my Dad. They were my sister’s…but she’s off to college…yep. Poor Dad. And I have to agree with Raf…that is NOT a point in their favor. ewww…

  7. It’s a huge point in their favor. I’ve wanted a rhinocerous beetle for over ten years, but good luck finding one. >.< They just aren't available where I live.

  8. As you seem to like creepy- crawlies, you might try looking at a video of the longest-lived insect in the world: a termite queen. Warning — they are SUPER creepy!!

    1. I do! It’s wild to me how different the termite queen looks so different from the rest of the colony! We found one once when we were cleaning out a barn and my mom was the only one who knew what the heck it actually was. I didn’t know they were so long-lived though!
