Oh man, I actually didn’t know this. This would make MUCH more sense than throwing out old freezerburned ice cream…. I wonder what would happen if you tried to add yeast or anything?
Hmm, I wonder if this only works with real ice cream or if it works with “frozen desert” as well. Not a lot of ice creams have actual cream in them anymore.
well alright, i gave it a go. i was sorely dissapointed. if you think about it, ice cream has like, egg, milk, and other cakey ingrediants, so it seems less impressive.
anyway, it was just kind of a dry spongy thing. It wasnt very ice creamy, in fact it tasted like a really bad brownie. albeit, chocolate flavor might have not been a good choice. perhaps something more unusaully flavored would have made a more interesting bread. you have to eat this with a redundantcy of ice cream due to the dryness. i actually made some terrible brownies that had similar results only on accident.
Someone made me a loaf for my birthday, but I got the warning: “Look, it’s a slightly sweeter bread, but it’s not going to taste *like* ice cream.” She made me a mint chocolate chip batch and it was really good. Just regular bread-texture, but it had a really nice minty hint to it, and the chocolate chips added sweetness.

As well you should be.
Now I just need to find the exact recipe.

I tried it a few months ago. It’s a fairly dense bread, almost a biscotti, but here’s a link to the recipe.

Oh, and if you have all-purpose flour instead of self-rising flour you can just add about 3/8 tsp of baking powder.

YOU absolutely rock, thank you! 😀

I guess it would work with the freezer burned stuff…maybe you melt it down first? I’ve not actually tried this yet!

But…why would you want to turn yummy ice-cream into ‘bread’?
redking73

True. I think it depends on the brand though. You’d probably be okay as long as you checked the ingredients label ^_^
