I’m reminded of when the strap broke on a coworker’s red leather purse. I walked by as they were about to throw it away. I asked them what was wrong and they showed me the strap. I said I knew leatherworkers who could fix is, and if I could have it if she really didn’t want it. I now have a large red leather bag that is being converted into a healer’s satchel for game.
Bad timing I guess, but there are deadly bombs hurting innocent people everyday. Trying to post this on a day that one didn’t go off could be tricky.
Although I understand that people are taking it more personally because it’s from your own country and it generally doesn’t happen in the USA.
No need to apologies in my opinion. It’s not as if this is referencing that incident in any way. Clearly you’re not actually going to bomb your local shopping center.
Let’s not be too hasty there. I do not THINK she will do it but I am not yet ready to rule out the possibility of it happening. I find it is best to keep an open mind about almost everything.
How sad is it that I’m so oblivious to what’s going on in the world that this is what clued me into something happening in Texas? And I didn’t even think of it in reference to Bosten? (Found out that one through Facebook). So yeah, bad timing, but humorous when not taken seriously.
Oh man. I have these thoughts about our kitchen equipment at work ALL THE TIME. Just, “Oh… the freezer is ganking up again? Can it just catastrophically fail so we can get a new one? Please?”
This “hyper sensitivity” thing is really getting to be tedious. Bombs get made everyday, most by governments and they are really bad. Everyday, commercial workers blow up things that need it. As I mentioned on another chat: It’s illegal to beat someone to death with a baseball bat, but playing baseball is still legal and acceptable. Actions are the issue, not ideas, not objects.
It’s true, though I can understand why seeing this comic right on the heels of a tragedy caused some uneasiness, but I think everyone here was ultimately able to see that no harm was meant, nor fun being had at victims’ expense.
Real life tragedy isn’t something to be laughed at, but I still think silly cartoons are ^_^
in the words of Mitch Hedburg – an escalator can never break. it can only become stairs.

That is a dangerous joke these days. You never know who might take it seriously.
SurlyQueen
True, true.
Though this comic, obviously wasn’t meant to be taken with any kind of seriousness, I apologize for unintentional offense.
ErikZ
I guess that joke blew up in your face.
SurlyQueen
Ouch. Geeeeeeeez!

what are you talking about that joke is the bomb, it is terrorific. Al Qaenda like it. ok, that was bad, I am going to stop now.

Good joke, worst timing imaginable.

Yeah, very bad timing. Still kind of funny.
SurlyQueen
Fair. Though, this was queued long before Boston and Texas. I apologize for unintentional offense.

Oh man, the loss was certainly your gain.
Especially since a leather strap is a really easy thing to get fixed!

Geez. You’re right on all counts. In my own defense, I’d had this queued up LONG before Boston and Texas. My apologies.

No worries ^_^
In another time, I too would have been completely oblivious (1950s Dad makes me watch the news).

Ugh. I know. It’s like a bad break up, or something. Freezer, it’s OVER. We’re seeing other appliances now.
…
Or something. It’s late!

Ohmyglob. I. LOVE. MITCH HEDBURG.

I said as much in comic # 319.
As I went back to find which comic it was, I notice that Wendy apparently has a lot of unresolved issues with the escalator at her work-place.

Bad timing………..

My Boss gives me the strangest looks…. Every time he says
“Sometimes I just wish this place would burn to the ground.”
and I shrug and say “We’ve got enough paint thinner and lighter fluid in the basement…. all it would take is one well placed match and………….”

He forgets I’m borderline psychotic… It worries him….

Reading this in 2017, I had to look up April 2013 t see what happened that year that would have so many saying “bad timing”.
For me, I think it was a hilarious comic. 😀
