It's well documented that yucky soot snakes are my favorite 4th of July novelty, but a couple years ago they came out with this weird owl. At its heart, it's a pretty basic fountain, but as it burns down, the eyes and beak on the side light up and it emits this ear-splitting screech. Nothing says Happy 4th like an eerie, screaming owl.

Our first dog tried to crawl under the carpet if there were fireworks in the next town, it was pitiful. Our last one didn’t even blink and I swear the one we have now wants to go see them.
