No one really likes needles. But this is probably why most nurses think I'm going to straight-up pass out every time I'm confronted with a blood draw. It is very difficult for me to reign in my dinosaur brain who desperately wants me to run away and never come back.

I actually DO pass out when I get blood drawn. I did it the first time I ever had it done for some routine tests, and I avoided as best I could since. But when ended up in the hospital last year with lower abdominal pains (that ended up being treatable with antibiotics), they needed to take a blood sample to rule stuff out, and the moment I finish warning the nurses I’m passed out in my chair and they’re rushing to make sure I’m not falling over. I wake up a moment later and while I’m ok, they help me on a bed to lay down on (In a hallway, because covid means full hosptials) for the rest of my vist. Even when I recovered they tried to limit the amount of walking I did till I checked myself out later that day.

Oh wow! I know it’s scary for the nurses when a patient passes out on them too. I’m glad you were able to get the care that you needed and I hope you’re feeling better!
