#1183 Of Age

This is why I laugh when I hear people talking about how old their cars are. It's not fancy, or pretty (or even a color I would have picked, just a good deal on a used car a looooong time ago), but it gets me where I need to go and I'll drive it for as long as I can!

  1. One of mine is from 1988. it’s almost old enough to run for president, but it was born in Germany so it can’t.

    1. Oh dang! My mom would probably still be driving her ’88 Delta Olds if it hadn’t been sideswiped by some kid back in the early 2000s.

  2. Mine died (sniff) just before the pandemic hit.
It was a 2000 model, so it came out in ’99.
    Technically 21 years old.
I’d only had it since ’08 or so.
I could make some sentimental observations, talk about how I miss it still.
But the eternally broken AC, heat that only worked on off or high, always-leaking-something engine, window that fell whole into the door, and the power steering that died while my toddler and I were riding…..
There was a reason(s) I would not drive it outside the city, why I feared taking it over 45mph…. and cracked open a bottle of my favorite local soda when it went away for good.

    1. Mine’s still pretty reliable, but I only drive it in the city these days. I’d trust it on a longer trip in a pinch, but I’d rather not. It has this weird quirk when the weather changes, that sometimes it won’t start if I stop in for something real quick and then try and turn it back on again too soon. But it’s a Toyota Camry and it’ll either drop any second or….go for another 10 years. Either way, I’ll miss it when it’s gone!
