It's the cirrrrrrrrrrrrrcle of liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiife!

The whole point of the zoo is to get to learn about species of animals you would never otherwise see and that includes the fact that sometimes they eat other animals! Our family...watches a lot of nature documentaries, so even Xena, at her tender age is not phased by the fact that animals eat other animals (Planet Earth and Blue Planet were two of her favorite things to watch for ages). And look, I gotta be honest, I just kind of like weird, gross stuff sometimes and it's pretty neat to see nature in action. I'm not entirely sure if that rat was fed to this bird by a keeper or if it simply had the misfortune of wandering into the enclosure of a walking spear.
