RIGHT??? There was a BIRTHDAY PARTY with a BOUNCY CASTLE behind us today, and I wanted to scream over the fence at them about social distancing! But no, if I were to do that, I would SOMEHOW be the crazy one.

The first 25 seconds of this history video could just as easily describe 2020 as they do 1347. Humans have the ability to look at the past of our species and learn from it. It’s sad how infrequently we bother to do so.
Hey, don’t knock it. I went to a buffet just yesterday…
And things have changed.
Kentucky offered certain restaurant guidelines for re-opening. For buffets, the rules are:
Socially distanced tables
33% capacity max (rising to 50% soon)
Large groups discouraged
NO MORE SELF -SERVICE.
Only a server in gloves and mask is allowed to fill the plates.
This was the case at my family’s favorite Chines buffet. You could walk TO the food are, but a protected server filled the plates to your specifications (and being embarrassed about my normal pile-it-on procedure led to effective portion management). Wait staff also wore gloves and masks. Plates were the same, but silverware and cups were now disposable.
I’m wondering if this will bring a rebirth of the cafeteria style restaurants. Buffets like this feel off. Like trading handshakes for a circular wave and a “Mellow greetings, citizen” (Anyone get that reference?)
I’m okay staying off the buffets for the time being. If the country had a better handle on this (hell, if my own state had a better handle on this, no restrictions on crowds here and servers aren’t required to wear masks anymore, either. Idk if there ARE any extra restrictions on buffets here.) I might consider it, but with the virus pretty much staying the course since March, I’m going to keep staying the course here at home too (since I have to ability to do so).
yeah i agree, you cant fix stupid, i have yet to see a person wear a mask, and now, that things are being reopened, ppl dont walk 6ft apart anymore. i get you can only do so much, when it comes to dealing with other ppl, but oh god, so much stupid.
I just finished rereading your comics and finally caught up! Thank you for laughs during the pandemic, I’m a huge fan of yours and absolutely love your art!

It’s about 50/50 in my immediate area, but that’s only in the off-peak times. This virus is going to be with us for a very long time, I’m afraid.

But you can muffle the sound with duct tape.

I approve this message.

Took me a while to realize that she is wearing a mask.

Haaaaa, honestly, I was a little unsure of how well that would come across with the simplistic art style! ^_^;
