Fun Fact: There is at least one plot hole in Home Alone…. that really isn’t.
Plot Hole: Wouldn’t the family, or the ticket agent, have noticed a spare airline ticket?
Nope: Look closely in the ‘Pizza fight’ sequence. When they clean up the spilled drinks with a bunch of red napkins, Kevin’s red plane ticket is scooped up in the mix and winds up in the trash. Yes, it is contrived. Yes, it is barely noticeable. But at least it explains away one inaccuracy in the movie.
I could rant on a number of others, or the cringe-worthy-ness of certain non-combat sequences. But the home defense bit makes it worth re-watching. The barefoot burglar popping a tree-light between his toes always makes me smile…and wince.
If you have not watched “The Movies That Made Us” series on Netflix, do eeeet! Home Alone is featured and it is really interesting. Other films are Ghost Busters, Dirty Dancing, and Die Hard.

They also mention putting the dog in the kennel in an early scene while Mom is on the phone, hence the dog door which is integral for several pranks.
And yeah, the whole thing is ridiculous and implausible, but I still watch it every year with a big grin on my face XD
