Halloween Secrets Revealed!

Hello, my creatures!

Just a quick note to say that I really enjoyed reading your guesses (and getting some ideas for next year) for the On the Couch Halloween costumes! I think between all of you guys, you guessed them all…Except for the Challenge Costume: Kurockha…Didn’t really intend for it to happen that way, but Kuro’s reference IS kind of obscure. But without further adieu:

Taffy: Nyan Cat

PoJo: Tony Stark

Delria: Navi the Fairy (from Legend of Zelda)

Scurvy: PSY (from the Gangnam Style video)

Sausage: Dracula

Pine: Frankenstein’s Monster *snerk* Frankenpine.

Wendy: Finn (from Adventure Time)

Gatekeeper: Ghostbuster

Cricket: Pinkie Pie

Tacit: Catwoman

Jazz: Kyoshi Warrior (from Avatar: the Last Airbender)

And finally, Kurochka! Drum roll please………… The Chief Blue Meanie (from Yellow Submarine). It might have been a little easier if his feet weren’t so obscured by the other characters, but there you have it!

And with that: I now return you to Taffy’s irregularly scheduled rampaging. That’s all for now, and thanks for reading!

Ah, Spelling…

Halloween’s tomorrow! Check out the cast of On the Couch’s costumes.

And yeah, I’m aware I misspelled Halloween in the comic’s title. Stupid Photoshop Type Tool, never registers correctly when one types double letters! Ah well, it shall be fixed IN THE FUTURE. Happy Halloween!

That’s all for now, my creatures, and as always: Thanks for reading!

Good News, Everybody…

Hello again, my creatures!

I am pleased to announce that the posting problems have been solved, and were due to…*ahem*…user error. I won’t embarrass myself further by going into detail. Still working on the rss thing, I know that for right now, it’s only hooked up to the blog posts, but I’m working on getting the comics on board as well. More as developments continue!

In other news: Hey! Halloween is just around the corner, what are you guys going to dress up as? I can’t wait to put up some pics of my costume this year (any excuse to dress up!). I’m headed to a 1920s themed party, costumed appropriately, though not as a flapper. And Tuesday’s On the Couch comic will be my annual torture my…dress up my imaginary friends parade, and I think I’ve got some good costumes in the lineup for them. Hope you enjoy!

That’s all for now, and as always, thanks for reading!

Just a Heads Up…

Just wanted to let you Creatures know that I’m going to be trying to fix some of the bugs that are going on around here. Namely trying to get my scheduled postings to actually post correctly, and the rss feeds on the comics up and running again. I’m using Life On a Stick as the guinea pig again since it’s not as reliant upon continuity as On the Couch is…Okay, Stick isn’t reliant on continuity at ALL!

ANYway, there may be some instances of missing comics or double posts, but I’ll be monitoring closely to keep that from happening or, at the very least, have my mistakes showing for as little time as possible ^_^;

Thanks for all the support and patience, please continue to let me know if problems come up so I can address them as quickly as possible. I want you guys to be able to enjoy my comics with ease! That’s all for now, and as always: Thanks for reading!

310…310

Hello, my Creatures!

I wanted to thank you guys for your patience with what appeared to be a posting of the same comic twice today. I’m still learning my way around the settings and options here in WordPress, and it looks like there are a few kinks to work out with the scheduling process. Still working on the problem, and for now I have removed the double post. Life On a Stick #309 is stranded somewhere in the ether that is the internet, but I’ll have it straightened out very soon!

Tomorrow’s On the Couch comic should go up without a problem, though over the next couple of weeks, I’m going to be trying to figure out what some of the bugs are, so please bear with me if something like this happens again. In the meantime: How about those photos from Anime Weekend Atlanta that I’d meant to post up a year ago awhile back?

I did not even recognize this girl dressed as Miyazaki’s Arietty, until she turned around and I saw her hair clip!

These guys had really well-constructed costumes, and Clopin was surprised that I knew his character’s name. For I am a Disney Nerd.

This guy was dressed as Freddie Mercury. But more specifically FREDDIE. from Cromartie High School. An amazing, but relatively obscure anime (this cosplayer was thrilled that I’d actually seen the show).

This gentlemen did an eerily good impression of Pee Wee Herman. It was crazy, and I have no idea where he managed to find those crazy white shoes.

I LOVE Sly Cooper cosplayers, Sly Cooper being one of my favorite video game franchises.

Ah-mazing. Love the pink headband, sir

Slight Delay

Hello, my Creatures!

Quick note to let you guys know that today’s On the Couch comic WILL be up today, but will be posted later in the afternoon. I just spent most of the night locked out of my house, instead of INSIDE my house finishing up the comic. See you back here in the late afternoon.

That’s all for now, and thanks for reading!

Post AWA Wrap Up

*Whew* It was a long weekend, but I had a lot of fun behind the table at Anime Weekend Atlanta! I got to see a bunch of really awesome costumes (I’ll get some pictures up here later on in the week) and I met a bunch of really cool folks. Thanks to everyone who dropped by the table over the past few days and talked comics with me, and thanks especially to any new readers (especially those that came back again to tell me they had started reading!), I certainly will strive to keep you guys laughing.

To my existing readers, I’ve already gotten some feedback from you guys, and I’m thrilled to hear that you’re enjoying the redesign (I thought it was pretty snazzy, myself). There’s still going to be some tweaking going on around here, so please be patient if something doesn’t seem to be working right. There are still some aesthetic elements I want to change, and I’m planning on adding a few other goodies in the coming weeks.

That’s all for now, and asĀ  always: Thanks for reading!

Anime Weekend Atlanta

Holy cow! I’m gonna be behind a table in the Artist Alley at AWA this year! I’ve got some sweet Surly Queen Buttons and some keen On the Couch bookmarks for sale (along with some fan art of a few of my favorite things). Hope to see some of you guys there.

Fresh New Look

Hello, my Creatures!

Some of you may recall that I’d said there were going to be some “Big Changes” on the Surly Queen site. You probably already noticed…Well, say a fond farewell to the old and welcome to the slick, new version of surlyqueen.com! It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to spruce up around here, and I hope you guys enjoy the look. I’ve caught up to the present and started using ComicPress, so there’s a bunch of new stuff I think you’re all going to like: It’s a lot easier to get back and forth between the two comics, which I know has been a bit cumbersome in the past. There’s a comments function so you guys can talk about the comics (and I can talk to you!). There’s a new gallery that I hope you’ll all check out with some never before seen art hangin’ out in there.

In other news: I’m headed to Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA) and hope to see some of you guys there in Artist Alley, I’ll have another post up soon with a map!

That’s all for now, and thanks for reading!
