#1159 Commit

It would have been two years in August, so I wasn't quite there yet. And not a moment too soon, my hair was only growing in length and strength.

  1. Not sure when/if I’ll cut my covid hair. ‘Tis annoying sometimes. But I am a guy raised southern masculine with short hair for decades. Previously, it was rare for my hair to grow long enough to feel the wind move it. Now, I occasionally get a strange feeling I had never felt before January or February 2021: My own hair touching me between my shoulders. I am not wallowing in hair ecstasy, nor swearing off the shears for life. Just a peculiar sensation that I otherwise would never have experienced, and one I am not in a hurry to lose.

This is compounded by my distaste for haircuts. While I have seldom minded sitting in the chair, I am not thrilled with paying $14 (I am cheap) for someone I do not know to make small talk while trimming my hair… and being societally required to do the same every month or two. Doesn’t help that I have never cared about my hair’s appearance as long as it was out of my eyes.

    1. I say do whatever makes you the most comfortable (and man, I *wish* my hair appointments only cost $14, but then even in a non-pandemic year, I only go once a year, because I’m lazy about my hair)!

  2. Hair that long is worth money. Don’t they use it for wigs?

    1. I usually donate it to charity when I have enough that one of them will take it (most are based on length). Regrettably, in my overall excitement to get the cut coupled with leaving the house for something other than groceries or a quick food run, I forgot to ask them to save it.
