also, where did you hear “cukes”? I have never heard them called that.
I had an acquaintance a loooong time ago that used to call them that, and I sorta picked it up because it irritated some of my other friends a little bit ^_^;;
First I actively remember hearing it is while living in Australia back in the late 80s. Been calling them that ever since.
I’ve heard people call them that off and on in Michigan and Tennessee (for a group meet-up of internet friends from as far away as the U.K.).
I really don’t remember where I first heard it though.
