I don’t as a rule before Halloween, and try not to before Thanksgiving.
…But I have been looking at some LED Christmas lights to replace the old school ceramic ones I have in my room year round. They produce so much heat I can’t really use them. Walmart’s just taunting me with them right by the door I go in.
I’m slightly more sympathetic to stores after hearing the sort of warehouse economics of the relatively short Christmas season compared with its space/manpower requirements and impact on the yearly profits. So fair enough, stores want to spread out what would otherwise be a even more hectic month of tons of purchases and product demand. That said, as holidays showing up before their time and encroaching on other holidays, yeah that’s still its own little annoyance.
It’s true on both ends. I used to work retail so I got a tiny taste of both sides of it. Our Christmas stuff started showing up in August (July if you counted calendars) and it would just keep. coming. And I worked in a relatively niche market (bookstore) so I know it was just a tiny slice of what other types of stores have to contend with.
As a current employee of the same nameless bookstore, let me tell you, you should be quite glad you got out when you did. I’m not at all sure what the people at the top *think* they’re doing this year, but on the actual floor, it’s like a parody of a horrible retail experience.

I can forgive craft stores since they cater to a crowd that’s usually making their own Christmas decor/gifts. You need time to get that stuff done!
